Description
Presented is a fine pair of American sterling silver serving spoons by William Garrett Forbes of New York. These spoons date to around the 1790s. The spoons are done in a simple, traditional style with a distinctive downward turn to the end of the handles. Each spoon is monogrammed BMF on the front of the terminal of the handle. The back of the handle has a more recent presentation monogram of RFP and the date 1911. The 'F' in both of these monogram is for Forbes, while the 'P' in the more modern monogram is for Perkins, the same as the estate from which we acquired these pieces. Each spoon is stamped on the back of the handle with the maker's mark for William Garrett Forbes of New York. Each spoon is about 9 1/4 inches long. The spoons weighs 129 grams or 4.6 regular ounces. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
