Description
Presented is a fine set of 6 Shiebler sterling silver teaspoons. These spoons are done in the elegant Corinthian pattern, which officially began production in 1874, designed by John Polhamus circa 1855. The pattern features classical shell and floral designs on the handles. Three of the spoons have a monogram of AFM on the back of the handle in script, while one has the name Goodrich and two have a Gothic M. These spoons are in great overall condition. There are a couple of dings to the bowls here and there, but nothing of any consequence. The details of the pattern are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no breaks, no chips, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs. Two of the spoons are stamped with the old style Shiebler maker's mark as well as sterling and the patent date of 1874, as well as the retail mark for J.B. Mayo. The remaining spoons are stamped with the newer winged-S Shiebler mark, as well as sterling, and patent. Each spoon is about 5 7/8 inches long. This set weighs 145.8 grams or 5.2 regular ounces total. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
