Description

Presented is a beautiful JB & SM Knowles sterling silver serving spoon or scoop. This piece dates to around 1875-1885. The server is ornately decorated on the handle with a realistic design of berries and leaves on a long branch, all against a finely textured background. The bowl of the scoop has a scalloped edge. The interior of the bowl has a matte finish, with bright cut foliate designs for contrast. The back of the handle has a monogram of B in Gothic script. This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The server is stamped with the maker's mark for Knowles as well as sterling. The server is about 8 7/8 inches long.
