Description

Presented is a fine old Gorham sterling silver pierced serving scoop or ladle. This piece is done in the Medallion pattern, which began production in 1864. As the name suggests, this pattern features a medallion design for the end of the handle, with a classical Greco-Roman style profile in the center of the medallion. This particular piece has a helmeted soldier's profile, very well done down to the detail of the plume on his helmet. The bowl of the ladle is pierced and gilded, suitable for serving berries or other fruit in syrup, or whatever other serving purpose you like. The back of the handle has a monogram of HFH. The server is in great condition. The details of the pattern are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs. This piece is stamped on the stem with the Gorham maker's mark as well as sterling and the patent date of 1864. This piece is about 7 5/8 inches long. This piece weighs 63.9 grams or 2.3 regular ounces. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
