Description
Presented is an antique, English sterling silver serving spoon made by Peter and Ann Bateman in 1798. The handle is beautifully hand engraved and has an unmonogrammed cartouche at the top. The bowl has a bright gold wash and is hand chased with textured fruits and leaves. This is a very classic design by two of of the most famous 18th century, English silversmiths. The back is marked with the crowned leopard's head for London, a duty mark of George III's head, a date letter C for the year 1798 and a maker's mark for Peter and Ann Bateman. This piece is in excellent overall condition, especially for its age. There are no damages and no repairs. The spoon measures 8 1/2 inches long. Weight: 57 grams.
